Summer Aircraft Maintenance Trainee

What you can expect as a Summer Aircraft Maintenance Trainee at West Star:

Whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/hydraulic and pneumatic systems or performing inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, no day is the same. What is the same, is that each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth.

• Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
• Removal and installation of panels and components.
• Learning to troubleshoot and problem solve aircraft system/component issues.
• De‑fueling aircraft.
• Engine removal/installations.
• Operating ground support equipment.
• Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components.
• Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/ taxiing.
• Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling.
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
• Any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

A High school diploma or equivalent will be required. Being enrolled in an Airframe and Powerplant program is preferred. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Prior general mechanical knowledge is preferred.

Shift I - Monday‑Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. This program will run from May 22, 2024 – August 11, 2024. Housing is provided for those selected who must relocate for the duration of the program.

We’re looking for team players who are self‑motivated and able to perform in a fast paced environment. A willingness to learn, receive feedback, hold yourself accountable and take responsibility will be expected.

• Attend work every day as scheduled.
• Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
• Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
• Maintain customer oriented work habits.
