Project Engineer

Thompson Pipe Group – Pressure Division specializes in the design and manufacture of concrete pressure pipe and steel water pipe. Pipelines are designed and produced as engineered‑to‑order products on a per‑project basis. This role serves as an intermediate position between technical support staff and senior product design staff. Members typically range from entry‑level to intermediate in their technical careers.

Hours:

Monday‑Friday from 8am – 5pm.

Technical Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Disciplines
  • Civil
  • Mechanical
  • Industrial
  • Building Construction or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience (preferred but not required).
  • Engineer‑in‑Training certification (benefit but not required).
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in a related field (preferred).
Technical Preference
  • Civil, mechanical engineering or comparable technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of land surveying practices or construction management (plus).
  • Previous project engineering experience (benefit).
  • Practical construction experience (benefit).
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • Proficient in MS Office or equivalent suite.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Release 2016 or higher.
  • Solid understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel.
Responsibilities
  • Preparation of pipeline layout and fabrication drawings.
  • Design of large‑diameter pipe and fittings.
  • Thrust restraint design.
  • Application of mathematical knowledge to solve engineering problems.
  • Management of compliance with standards and specifications for quality control and assurance.
  • Maintenance of budget and scheduling to maximize efficiency.
  • Other duties as required.
