Mission description

Job Summary:

As an HSE Specialist at Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics, you will be a driving force behind our commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental excellence. You will play a key role in implementing, monitoring, and improving the HSE Management System for Grand Prairie, TX site. Your expertise and proactive approach will help maintain compliance with legal requirements and ensure a culture focused on accident prevention and environmental protection.

Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    Ensure full compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations, conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Safety Program Management:
    Implement proactive measures such as hazard communication, injury/illness prevention programs (IIPP), and emergency response plans.
  • Accident Investigations:
    Lead investigations into workplace incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Fire Life Safety Program:
    Oversee inspection and maintenance of the firefighting system to meet local code requirements and support policy improvement.
  • Emergency Response Coordination:
    Serve as primary contact for emergency situations, coordinating evacuations, drills, and ensuring readiness.
  • Compliance:
    Maintain health and safety regulations, OSHA standards, workers' compensation, and environmental laws.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    Keep accurate records of incidents, training, inspections, and compliance; prepare regulatory reports.
  • Training and

    Education:

    Develop and deliver training on safety protocols, emergency procedures, PPE, hazardous material handling, and ergonomics.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Collaborate with leadership to enhance safety protocols and culture.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and local authorities to perform inspections and develop program plans.
Required Competencies
  • Education/

    Experience:

    Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; 5+ years in an HSE role, preferably in manufacturing, electronics, or industrial environments.
  • Certification: OSHA certification required; additional certifications (ISO 14001 auditor, environmental compliance, hazardous materials) are a plus.
  • Leadership Skills / Management Skills / Personal

    Skills:

    Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team, analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective problem‑solving; proactive, collaborative, adaptable and customer‑service mindset.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations; familiarity with risk assessment, incident investigation, root cause analysis; proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management software/tools.
