Overview
Join our team as a Senior Planner and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our city! This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead high-level planning and project management efforts within the Planning and Development Department. You ll contribute to long-range and current planning initiatives, review development proposals, and implement comprehensive and area plans that drive sustainable growth and vibrant communities.

- Communicates with the public, developers, and contractors over the phone, via email, or at the front counter.
- Reviews and administrates the land development process by researching unified development code, administering, and specifying required procedures and processes for zoning changes, specific use permits, platting cases.
- Reviews and prepares staff reports and recommendations by researching past cases, researching the UDC, reviewing and discussing with other departmental staff, presenting information to the applicant, and preparing a final draft of reports and ordinances to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
- Assists other team members in the division and department as needed.
- Communicates with the public, developers, and contractors by attending public hearings; and discussing projects over the phone.
- Writes various reports by responding to external requests for information; and writing staff reports.
- Develops planning studies and reports in support of new and updated plans, programs, and regulations.
- Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.
- Provides information to the public regarding the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and area plans.
- Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.
- Education: Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience: Over two years and including three years of directly related experience.
- Licenses: Valid Texas Class C Driver s License
- Certifications
Required:
AICP preferred.
