Job Description

The Assurance Senior will coordinate the day‑to‑day planning, fieldwork, and wrap‑up of engagements, preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP, and documenting, validating, testing, and assessing control systems. This position also serves as the client contact for basic questions and may be involved in reviews and agreed‑upon procedure engagements.

Job Duties
  • Apply knowledge of control environments to assess policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Document, validate, and assess the design and operating effectiveness of clients’ internal control systems.
  • Identify and communicate suggested improvements to reduce risk.
  • Supervise and review the work of audit staff.
  • Apply GAAP principles to client transactions and draft financial statements with disclosures.
  • Communicate financial statement disclosure requirements and complex accounting issues to clients and team members.
  • Coach less experienced team members in new areas.
  • Plan and execute Section 404 internal control audits, including test plans and defect evaluation.
  • Apply GAAS and professional standards to engagement documentation.
  • Formulate and communicate audit plans, employing audit skepticism and appropriate testing.
  • Utilize BDO audit manuals and maintain documentation of deviations from policy.
  • Coordinate the day‑to‑day conduct of the audit plan, ensuring fieldwork completion on schedule and within budget.
  • Use internal and external research tools, draft audit documentation, and develop audit engagement plans and budgets.
  • Collaborate with engagement managers to assign audit staff responsibilities.
Qualifications, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a bachelor’s degree in another focus area with CPA certification.
  • Master’s degree in Accountancy is preferred.
  • Two or more years of relevant audit experience, including public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services.
  • Prior basic supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Eligibility to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment and actively pursuing completion of the exams.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with assurance applications and research tools.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes‑Oxley, and internal accounting controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to multi‑task independently and in a team environment.
  • Superior analytical and diagnostic skills for complex issue resolution.
  • Project management skills and attention to detail.
License/Certifications
  • Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment and actively pursuing completion of the exams.
  • CPA is preferred.
Software

  • Cleveland, Ohio: $75,000 - $82,000
  • Colorado: $80,000 - $85,000
  • Illinois: $82,000 - $90,000
  • Maryland: $78,000 - $93,000
  • Minnesota: $76,000 - $82,000
  • Massachusetts: $81,500 - $90,000
  • New Jersey: $80,000 - $95,000
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $80,000 - $115,000
  • Washington: $82,000 - $95,000
  • Washington DC: $80,000 - $100,000
