Fishbeck is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our Accounting team. This individual will play a key role in project billing and accounting processes, with a strong emphasis on Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). for TX, MI, OH, and IN. Candidates with DOT billing experience are strongly preferred. Experience with in the AEC industry is a plus. This position may be based in our Grand Rapids, MI;
Farmington Hills, MI; or Toledo, OH office.

The ideal candidate will support project managers, ensure accurate and timely billing, assist with revenue recognition, and respond to project and client inquiries.

• Manage and support DOT billing processes (TX, MI, OH, IN).
• Provide pre-billing information for project managers to review.
• Communicate with project managers on contract documents, change orders, and contract modifications.
• Provide accurate and timely billing, collection, cost accounting, and cost analysis.
• Meet with project managers and project staff to answer billing and collection questions.
• Prepare monthly billing reports for project managers.
• Provide year-end support for auditor requirements.
• Assist with project setup.
• Support project managers with collections.
• Facilitate job closeout.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.

• 3+ years of professional experience as a project accountant or similar role.
• DOT billing experience strongly preferred (TX, MI, OH, IN).
• Experience in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
• AEC industry experience is a plus.
• Ability to prepare project budgets and financial forecasts.
• Experience in project invoicing and billing.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting best practices.
