Furst Group has the privilege to partner with Corewell Health West Michigan region to recruit a transformational physician leader who will serve as Department Chief and Service Line Leader, Anesthesiology and Perioperative Services. This inaugural leadership role represents a rare opportunity to architect, build, and operationalize a fully integrated, in-house anesthesia and perioperative service line across a complex, high-volume, multi-hospital enterprise.
The Department Chief and Service Line Leader will lead the clinical, operational, educational, quality, and strategic direction of anesthesiology and perioperative services, promoting a bold vision for sustainable growth, workforce stability, and clinical excellence aligned with Corewell Health’s mission and values.
Corewell Health West Michigan is a complex, high-acuity region that includes a Level I Trauma Center, one of the Top 10 busiest birthing centers in the nation, a transplant program, and over 100 care sites. The anesthesia enterprise includes more than 187 anesthesia FTEs across 10 hospitals and procedural sites, with a mixed model of physicians and CRNAs serving trauma, tertiary, community, and ambulatory settings.
This role offers the opportunity to shape a modern, integrated anesthesia and perioperative program that balances academic rigor with community-based care.
The Department Chief and Service Line Leader will oversee three existing divisions, Pediatric Anesthesiology, Cardiac Anesthesiology, and General Anesthesia/Women’s Health, and will support the development of new anesthesia subspecialty services. The role will also play a central leadership role in launching a future Anesthesiology Residency Program and supporting academic, research, and teaching initiatives within the service line.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of executive physician leadership, deep operational expertise across perioperative services, and success managing multi-site anesthesia operations with mixed provider models. The ideal leader will be an exceptional communicator with the ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and lead transformational change in a dynamic healthcare environment.
