Position Math Teacher – Long-Term Substitute

Teachers of mathematics at Catholic Central are student-centered, growth-minded professionals who provide students with a foundation in logic, reasoning, and calculation skills and an experience in current technology that will enable the student to succeed in his or her chosen career. They provide challenging methods of operating which serve to increase problem‑solving capabilities and critical thinking skills, meanwhile fostering virtues of wisdom, knowledge, and integrity that will serve them in any of the vocational opportunities to which God calls them.
PrimaryResponsibilities
In addition to content teaching, the selected candidate will:
- Work as a servant leader of the Catholic faith and uphold values in word and action.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school wide opportunities.
- Be flexible in scheduling and responsive to student and school needs.
- Implement curricula in collaboration with fellow team members.
- Collaborate with teammates to improve student learning and growth.
- Strive to improve curriculum for the benefit of all students.
- Adapt lessons to reach all learners.
- Develop and administer a balance of traditional and authentic assessments that evaluate content knowledge and skills.
- Employ technology as a learning tool.
- Maintain classroom decorum, encouraging orderly and stimulating discussions and student participation.
- Provide support both in the classroom setting and during established office hours.
- Contribute to the school community outside of the classroom.
The Math Teacher will be a person who has a dynamic personality, is organized, well rounded, engaging, and who seeks growth and collaboration inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, they will:
- Hold a degree in and teaching certificate in mathematics.
- Exhibit a strong interest in and concern for quality teaching, ideally with previous teaching experience.
- Demonstrate an ability and commitment to furthering the Catholic mission and identity of the school.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
