POSITION TITLE:
After School Theatre Coordinator
LOCATION(S)
GRCES Evergreen, GRCES Iroquois, Rockford Christian School, and GRCMS
OVERVIEWCONTRACT: Hourly Position
REPORTS TO: Director of Theatre
COORDINATES WITH: GRCS Building Principals & CAW Production Staff
POSITION SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Director of Theatre, the After School Theatre Coordinator will play a key role in expanding our theatre offerings for all GRCS elementary and middle school students. The new After School Theatre Coordinator will lead our after school enrichment programs for K - 8th grade students on all four of our elementary/middle school campuses. This position will be responsible for the following programs:
- 6 week after school Acting Classes on our Evergreen and Iroquois Campuses
- 6 week after school Acting Classes on our Rockford Christian Campus
- 6 week Acting & Technical Theatre classes on our GRCMS Campus
- iXplore Classes for our Middle School and Rockford Christian Campuses
- Serve as the Director for our GRCMS Play/Musical
- Ability to implement and oversee a new theatre curriculum geared towards K-3, 4-5, and 6-8 grade students.
- Willingness and ability travel to all GRCS campuses on a rotating basis during after school/evening hours
- Desire and ability to coordinate with building principals and administration to best support the learning needs of each student.
- Experience teaching acting and musical theatre skills for K-8 grade students.
- Experience teaching and knowledge of Technical Theatre Design:
Sets, Props, Costumes, Lighting and Sound - Experience serving as a Director/Music Director for One Act & Jr. productions.
- Experience working in different classroom environments on a rotating basis.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and program demands.
- Support collaboration in theatre programs across all campuses and grade levels.
- Attend regular meetings & professional development with the Director of Theatre at GRCHS
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Drama, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching drama to elementary or middle school students.
- Strong knowledge of acting techniques, stagecraft, and dramatic literature.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience with directing and producing theatrical productions, including musicals.
- A passion for theatre and a commitment to inspiring young people.
- Willingness to adapt to a very flexible work schedule.
