Preschool Assistant Teacher

Pay: $16-$18 per hour, based on experience

Schedule:

Full-Time, Monday-Friday

The Learning Experience - Grand Rapids Beltline is seeking a caring and dependable Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and wants to begin or grow a career in early childhood education. You'll work alongside an experienced Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging classroom where preschoolers build confidence, independence, friendships, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Teacher with daily Preschool classroom routines and learning activities
  • Engage children through play, art, music, movement, stories, and hands-on experiences
  • Support early literacy, language, math, creativity, and social-emotional development
  • Encourage independence, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions
  • Assist with meals, rest time, outdoor play, transitions, and classroom routines
  • Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance
  • Help prepare classroom activities and learning materials

    Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators
  • Follow Michigan childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or experience working with children preferred, but not required
  • CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus
  • Patient, dependable, energetic, and team-oriented
  • Willingness to learn and grow within early childhood education
  • Must meet applicable Michigan childcare licensing requirements
