Structural Bridge Design.

• Complete performance evaluations of bridges through analysis of deflection, stress, and strain.
• Ensure compliance of bridge code within all designs.
• Use Finite Element Analysis to ensure structural integrity of designs.
• Perform structural design of foundation, substructure, and superstructure of a bridge.
• Prepare proposal documents including technical details, goals, timeline, and project budget.
• Draft construction specifications and special provisions for projects.
• Prepare construction cost estimates for bridge projects.
• Act as mentor to Engineer in Training employees, providing guidance to more junior engineers ensuring thorough understanding of software programs used for structural analysis.
• Review and check structural shop drawings submitted by others on team.
• Work with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and fabricators under Project Manager supervision.
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Provide official stamp for personally prepared engineering documents following state specific requirements.
• In collaboration with Senior Engineers, present projects during conferences.
• May undergo background checks including drug screen.
• National travel to conferences, trainings, client sites, and local travel for site visits possible, not to exceed 60 days per year or 5 days in a single trip.

• Must have Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering plus 4 years relevant experience working on bridge-related design projects.
• Alternatively must have Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering plus 3 years relevant experience.
• Required skills:
  
  construction techniques, materials science, and hydraulics; safety standards; project management; CAD; and relevant engineering codes and standards.
• Must hold Professional Engineer certification.
• Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
