Project Engineer – Grand Rapids, MI – Building Automation & Energy Integration
About the Role:
A growing Building Automation and Energy Integration company is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support expanding operations throughout West Michigan. This role involves full lifecycle ownership of BAS projects—from initial design review to final closeout. The ideal candidate brings hands-on BAS experience, strong project coordination skills, and the ability to drive high-quality system delivery on schedule.
Position Details:- Title: Project Engineer
- Location: Grand Rapids, MI (local travel required)
- Hourly Rate: $30.00 – $45.00/hr (based on experience)
- Overtime: Available
- Bonus: Discretionary
- Company Vehicle: Provided

- PTO: Paid vacation and holiday time
- Serve as the primary lead on BAS controls projects throughout all phases
- Troubleshoot, test, and help support the installation of control systems
- Work closely with programmers, installers, and facility staff to verify sequencing and system performance
- Coordinate manpower, materials, and internal resources to meet deadlines
- Attend jobsite progress meetings and provide updates to project managers
- Oversee commissioning steps, including point-to-point verification
- Manage RFIs, change orders, and site coordination with GCs and building owners
- Support installation teams to ensure smooth turnover and project closeout
- Experience in a Project Engineer, Project Technician, or similar BAS-related role
- Strong understanding of HVAC controls principles and programming logic
- Background coordinating BAS installation and commissioning activities
- Knowledge of system integration and point-to-point checkout procedures
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational abilities
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-focused environment
