We are seeking a Senior Calibration Technician who can perform calibration and maintenance on process and analytical instrumentation onsite at our client pharmaceutical facilities in Michigan and surrounding states if needed. The position is eligible for a company vehicle.
This position will focus on maintenance, calibrations, and repairs on a variety of instruments, including process/utility/laboratory instruments such as refrigerators, freezers, transmitters, monitors, incubators, centrifuges, autoclaves, pipettes, balances, pressure, and temperature devices. Experience with computer-based calibration tracking programs (CMMS) is desired.
The Senior Calibration Technician (Tech SR) reports directly to the Team Leader, Manager, or Director depending on the organizational structure. These positions are non-exempt. Up to fifty percent travel may be required based on project and client needs, but most of the work is projected to be in Massachusetts.
Expectations:
Calibration Technicians complete calibrations, qualifications, and preventive maintenance with accurate and timely GxP documentation, following PCI and/or client-specific policies and procedures. They are expected to proactively support the team and provide client support, building trust through upholding PCI values such as honesty, integrity, pride, accountability, teamwork, and commitment.
Technicians are expected to identify and execute tasks that enhance PCI’s ability to provide value-added services, offering guidance on technical issues and troubleshooting with advanced expertise. The Tech SR is also expected to build high-level interactions with clients, providing strategic direction and demonstrating subject matter expertise, reliability, and strategic initiative.
Responsibilities/Assignments:
- Oversee and supervise calibrations, qualifications, and PMs, ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards.
- Provide guidance and effective solutions to clients and PCI resources.
- Mentor and role-model PCI’s values and philosophy.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of equipment; train other associates.
- Develop client quotes and proposals.
- Manage project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and scope changes, ensuring profitability and accurate billing.
- Assess safety concerns and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Develop and implement solutions based on client needs, building strong relationships for successful execution.
- Lead projects and serve as “Account Manager” for select clients when appropriate.
Skills Required:
- Expert knowledge of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
- Exceptional CMMS skills.
- Proficiency with MAS
500 Pivot Table and project KPI modules. - Ability to develop and interpret policies, regulations, and calibration principles; provide training.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, electrical safety, and negotiation skills.
- Understanding of financial and P&L implications; strategic thinking.
- Mentorship and technical training skills; knowledge of FDA, GMP, GLP, NIST traceability; test equipment expertise.
- Active involvement in professional organizations; external certifications preferred.
Experience &
Education:
A four-year degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, or related field, or equivalent military training plus four+ years of applicable experience, or equivalent education and experience. Experience with quality systems/pharmaceutical environments is required.
