SummaryResponsible for assisting in the laboratory to optimize workflow. Responsibilities include organizing and directing laboratory workflow, managing the daily laboratory visit list in ONCO EMR, helping direct the phlebotomy team, aiding with specimen processing, handling laboratory phone calls, and assisting with blood draws.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Oversee the daily Lab Visit list, complete the collection record, print labels, receive specimens, and prioritize patient blood draws.
- Answer the lab phone and assist callers with their questions and requests.
- Load and unload the centrifuge, and organize specimens for in‑house and send‑out testing.
- Load specimens onto the Sysmex instrument to initiate test analysis.
- Assist providers during bone marrow biopsies.
- Perform phlebotomy duties as needed.
- Maintain lab supply inventory and complete order forms for needed supplies.
- Assist with preparing and sending out Molecular Test Kits.
Able to perform a variety of tasks including specimen ordering, collecting, processing, and packaging for send‑out testing. Able to interact with peers and other departments positively, enhancing patient services and staff morale. Interacts effectively with patients and family members, demonstrating sensitivity toward cultural diversity, age‑specific needs, confidentiality, and all abilities. Functions as a team member by expanding responsibilities as directed by management to facilitate optimal workflow within the cancer center.

Two years of related work experience, including phlebotomy. - Other

Exceptional people skills in the medical field; ability to remain composed during extremely busy times; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently at a fast pace with minimal supervision; ability to maintain confidentiality; 95% of time spent standing/walking; high attention to detail required.
