Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems.
As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Fulltime Housekeeper position.
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housekeeper cleans all areas of the hospital by performing routine cleaning of patient rooms, clinical areas, assessment rooms, break rooms, outpatient areas, restrooms and corridors that are consistent with hospital procedures.
Hours: 10:30am-7:00pm, with every other weekend.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
- Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
- Performs terminal/detailed cleaning of patient rooms when required to ensure a germ-free environment and to enhance patient and employee safety.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Uses the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Uses and maintains equipment properly.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
- Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
- Replenishes cleaning supplies.
- Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions.
- Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
- Ability to do work on their own with normal supervision, adhering to safety precautions at all times.
- Demonstrates the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand equipment operational instructions.
- Cleans and maintains carpet and tiled floors as needed.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.
- Attends to both patient and staff housekeeping needs in a courteous manner.
- Works day, evening or night shifts as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of hospital environmental services/housekeeping preferred.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
- Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner
