Job Overview:

A successful Commercial Lines Senior Account Manager is a proactive, experienced professional skilled in client interactions and managing complex insurance portfolios. Responsibilities include client visits, handling meetings independently, advising on coverage and exposures, preparing proposals, conducting coverage analyses, implementing placement strategies, and maintaining service schedules. The role requires strong communication skills, professional development, and team leadership to drive client satisfaction and business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in client visits with Producers, handling meetings independently when needed.
  • Consult and educate clients about coverage details, documenting interactions appropriately.
  • Expand accounts by cross-selling and obtaining new lines of business.
  • Maintain proactive service schedules to meet renewal and new business timelines.
  • Prepare proposals and summaries for client reviews.
  • Follow up with clients on renewals and new business, coordinating with Producers.
  • Manage marketing efforts for your book of business, developing placement strategies with carrier partners.
  • Handle challenging coverage issues and market placements effectively.
  • Conduct coverage and pricing analyses, comparing costs and exposures annually.
  • Manage client concerns and foster positive relationships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with carrier partners to meet client needs.
  • Prioritize and manage workflow efficiently within the team.
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures and industry regulations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional education and industry trend analysis.
  • Participate in internal meetings and support team training and development.
  • Proactively review accounts with Producers and represent the agency at carrier events.
  • Build and maintain external relationships with clients and carriers.
  • Organize and prioritize responsibilities, and identify solutions for complex coverage issues.
  • Review and analyze insurance policies for accuracy.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Hold an MI Property and Casualty license.
    • At least 10 years of experience managing large commercial accounts.
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

    • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze options and implement solutions.
    • Location in Grand Rapids, MI, with in-person work required.
    • Work hours:

      8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Friday (with early close on Fridays from Memorial Day to Labor Day).
    • Reporting to the Chief of Planning and Operations.
