Sr. Buyer

Custom Profile is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer who can turn supply challenges into smart, practical solutions. As an employee-owned manufacturer of specialty thermoplastic profile extrusions and sub-assemblies, we serve a blue-chip customer base from locations in Grand Rapids, Michigan;
Camden, South Carolina; and Juarez, Mexico. Our in-house tooling capabilities give us greater control over quality and lead times- and our collaborative culture gives employees the opportunity to make a visible impact.

• Plan and execute raw-material procurement using MRP, Kanban and other demand signals.
• Build strong partnerships with scheduling, manufacturing, sales, engineering and key suppliers.
• Lead MRO sourcing, purchasing and analysis in coordination with Production and Maintenance.
• Manage inventory accuracy through cycle counts, root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Optimize MRP, source-list and material-master parameters, and proactively communicate availability risks.
• Partner with Program Management to secure materials for launches and engineering changes.
• Drive inventory, service and cost performance with production, scheduling and suppliers.
• Maintain accurate ERP data, including pricing, lead times, order quantities, safety stock and purchase-order details.
• Keep Safety Data Sheets and Technical Data Sheets current.
• Monitor purchase orders in IQMS and follow through to support on-time delivery.
• Lead or support RFQs, negotiations, cost-savings initiatives and supplier evaluations.
• Collaborate with Quality and suppliers to resolve nonconforming raw-material issues.
• Take on special projects and assignments as business needs evolve.
• Champion continuous improvement and help make Custom Profile safer, more efficient and more enjoyable.

• At least five years of materials management and resin procurement experience.
• Personnel management experience.
• Hands-on ERP/MRP experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or a related field is preferred, but not required.
• APICS certification is preferred, but not required.

• You understand supply-chain principles and know how to apply them in a manufacturing environment.
• You bring strong analytical, planning, organizational and negotiation skills.
• You communicate clearly and build productive working relationships.
• You are a self-starter who stays effective under pressure and adapts quickly to changing priorities.
• You are proficient with Microsoft Office.

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Use of safety glasses, hearing protection and closed-toe shoes on the production floor.
• Occasional travel, primarily local.
