Night Shift Setup TechnicianGrand Rapids, MI | $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday–Thursday | 2:30 PM – 12:30 AM | Onsite | Full-time About the Opportunity
A precision-focused manufacturing operation is seeking a Night Shift Setup Technician to lead and execute CNC Swiss Lathe machine setups to support high-quality production during the evening shift. This role is ideal for a skilled technician who enjoys hands‑on work, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and takes pride in accuracy, efficiency, and machine performance. The facility features advanced equipment including Citizen L20s, Citizen L32s, and a DMG Mori NLX.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Setting up Swiss Lathe CNC machines for nightly production
- Troubleshooting machining and setup issues to maintain uptime
- Ensuring setups meet safety, quality, and output standards
- Coordinating with other shifts for smooth operational handoffs
- Preparing tooling, programs, and work holding for upcoming runs
- Supporting continuous improvement and process optimization
- Operating machines when setup tasks are not required
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience
- Strong technical knowledge of Swiss Lathe CNC equipment (Citizen preferred)
- Mechanical troubleshooting ability and problem‑solving mindset
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- High school diploma or technical certification preferred
- Experience in aerospace or medical manufacturing a plus
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or CI initiatives helpful
