Job Description
Production Supervisor role at GE Aerospace – Grand Rapids facility. This position supervises the daily operations of the manufacturing team with a focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery to meet customer expectations.
Role OverviewThe Production Supervisor will supervise the daily operations of the business while prioritizing safety of the team, quality, and delivery to exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities- Oversee and manage front-line hourly manufacturing employees (union).
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Monitor processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Plan and manage daily production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments. Optimize workflows to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Manage resources effectively to control costs while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery performance.
- Supervise and mentor a team of technicians and operators, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Service, to resolve technical challenges and improve processes.
- Utilize Lean methodologies (FLIGHT DECK) to identify and implement process improvements, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to SQDC metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of manufacturing/production experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading people in a manufacturing and/or production environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Kaizen, Standard Work, Hoshin Kanri).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with aerospace regulatory requirements and processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
