Senior CNC Process Engineer (Lathe‑Focused)

Location:

Grand Rapids, MI | Onsite | Full‑Time | $100K–$125K + Full Benefits

About the Opportunity

We’re working with a well‑established precision manufacturing company that is expanding its engineering team. This role is ideal for a process‑minded CNC engineer who enjoys owning machining strategy, improving systems, and supporting teams — not just writing code.

This position focuses on engineering the process, not running machines every day.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Own and develop lathe machining processes from quote through production
  • Define machining strategies, tooling, fixturing, and inspection plans
  • Support CNC programmers and operators with troubleshooting and optimization
  • Improve process documentation, consistency, and repeatability
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (cycle time, scrap reduction, efficiency)
  • Collaborate with quality, production, and leadership teams
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor on the shop floor
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of CNC experience with strong exposure to lathe processes
  • Background as a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Senior CNC Engineer
  • Experience supporting aerospace or ISO 9001 / AS9100 environments
  • Understanding of tooling, fixturing, GD&T, and machining principles
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable working onsite and leading from the floor
Why This Role
  • True process ownership and influence
  • Opportunity to shape standards and best practices
  • Stable, values‑driven company with long‑term growth
  • Strong compensation, benefits, and career runway
