Senior CNC Process Engineer (Lathe‑Focused)

Grand Rapids, MI | Onsite | Full‑Time | $100K–$125K + Full Benefits
About the Opportunity
We’re working with a well‑established precision manufacturing company that is expanding its engineering team. This role is ideal for a process‑minded CNC engineer who enjoys owning machining strategy, improving systems, and supporting teams — not just writing code.
This position focuses on engineering the process, not running machines every day.
What You’ll Be Doing- Own and develop lathe machining processes from quote through production
- Define machining strategies, tooling, fixturing, and inspection plans
- Support CNC programmers and operators with troubleshooting and optimization
- Improve process documentation, consistency, and repeatability
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (cycle time, scrap reduction, efficiency)
- Collaborate with quality, production, and leadership teams
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor on the shop floor
- 5+ years of CNC experience with strong exposure to lathe processes
- Background as a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Senior CNC Engineer
- Experience supporting aerospace or ISO 9001 / AS9100 environments
- Understanding of tooling, fixturing, GD&T, and machining principles
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities simultaneously
- Comfortable working onsite and leading from the floor
