Every finished piece that leaves this plant starts as yarn on a cone. As a Yarn Inventory Processor, you make sure production gets the right yarn, in the right color, at the right time. The work is detail-driven, and it suits people who catch small differences others miss.

This position is with an established textile manufacturer in Grand Rapids, Michigan that produces made‑to‑order goods for commercial and residential projects. Inside the production facility, yarn is received, prepared, and staged for full production runs and sample orders, all governed by written procedures and quality standards that treat accuracy as part of the product.

You will run a winding machine that moves yarn from bobbins to cones and a twisting machine that plies strands to spec, handling five‑pound cones all day and shelving 30 to 35 pound boxes overhead by ladder. Between runs you receive, stage, and inspect yarn for defects and off shades, then check and log returns into the plant’s tracking system. Expect to stand most of the day around wool dust, with PPE as standard issue.

What We Offer:
  • $17.50 per hour
  • Choice of three shifts: 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, or 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Weekly pay
  • Consistent hours, with overtime available when production calls for it
  • Cross‑training across multiple yarn processing, staging, and returns roles
  • A $100 bonus for every friend you refer to us, plus an additional $25 bonus for your referral to WSI.
  • Opportunity for permanent hire based on performance and attendance
Requirements for this role:
  • Must pass a color perception test (Farnsworth‑Munsell 100 Hue Test)
  • Ability to lift 30 to 35 lb boxes overhead and handle 5 lb yarn cones throughout the shift
  • Ability to stand for a full shift and safely climb a ladder
  • Able to work in an environment with wool fibers, dust, and airborne particles while wearing required PPE
  • Basic computer skills for data entry
  • Ability to follow written work instructions and specifications precisely
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Previous manufacturing, textile, warehouse, or production experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write basic English

If you are the person who notices when two shades of gray are not quite the same, and you show up on time without anyone having to ask, this job will make sense to you quickly. The hours are steady, the expectations are clear, and the work is the kind you can get genuinely good at. That tends to get noticed here.

By submitting your application for this position, you are agreeing to receive communication from WSI, which may include calls, texts, and emails. You can unsubscribe from email or SMS messages by replying ‘stop’ at any time.
