Bethany is at the forefront of creating and implementing solutions to meet the growing needs of vulnerable children and families in the U.S. and around the world. The Career & Leadership Coordinator is primarily responsible for oversight on implementation and support to employment experience opportunity as well as coordinate program employment skill education in partnership with programming staff. The Career & Leadership Coordinator will provide oversight and facilitate the youth councils for program participants.

This individual will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive community partnerships and monitor youth work experiences within partner organizations. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete client intakes and assessments in a timely manner to include but not limited to the creation of an individual development plan (IDP) that addresses the client’s goals and areas of needed development;
  • Provide academic and employment development opportunities to program youth by establishing and maintaining the appropriate community partnerships;
  • Meet individually with youth to explore educational and vocational goals and interests;
  • Provide job coaching to youth while identifying and addressing barriers to success;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and submit written reports in a timely manner in compliance with state, federal and agency requirements;
  • Provide orientation, training, and ongoing support to community partners, while working with program participants to ensure services provided are trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate and culturally competent;
  • Effectively communicate the client’s IDP to community partners to include foster parents and/or referring workers to define the service plan and progress;
  • Collaborate effectively with community partners and program staff to identify client barriers and challenges while developing strategies to assist with youth transformation;
  • Plan, organize, promote, and facilitate employment workshops, engagement events and individual supports;
  • Assist youth in leadership development, job skills training, and community engagement;
  • Coordinate client transportation to as needed;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Human Services or related field of study from an accredited college;
  • At least two (2) years of employment support service experience;
  • Prior experience working with youth who are placed at risk and/or historically underserved, preferred;
  • Must be CPR, First Aid, and AEC certified upon hire or within 60 days of hire;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community, state and agency resources;
  • Must be willing and able to work days, evenings, and weekends, as necessary;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commitment.
