Purpose and Overview

The Youth Ministry Director will build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.

Characteristics of the Youth Ministry Director
  • Possess strong leadership skills to develop and foster a vibrant youth ministry so that our youth feel both loved and supported by their congregation, and also learn to disciple and love others in their community
  • Exude and inspire a high level of excellence and commitment to the youth ministry program so that our students have a reliable, God‑fearing role model they can look up to and emulate
  • Understand and own the value of a powerful youth group experience by designing engaging meetings that allow students to encounter God and open their hearts.
Specific duties

Plan the Programs
  • Plan and deliver all ministries at SRC involving students in the 6th through 12th grades in accordance with the mission and the goals of SRC. This includes:
  • Weekly youth group meetings on Sunday nights
  • Discipleship on a smaller scale with students who are interested in taking their faith to a deeper level
  • Mission trips, fellowship, work/service projects, and fundraisers to support the youth ministry and to help live out our mission of “reaching our neighbors.”
  • Fellowship and relationship‑building activities
  • Connecting with students one‑on‑one by attending their extracurricular activities, including but not limited to sporting events, music concerts, musicales, band competitions, etc.
Staff the Programs
  • In consultation with the Pastor, recruit, train, and supervise teams of adult volunteers and mentors who work with youth in all aspects of youth ministry, ensuring an adequate adult‑to‑youth ratio
  • Ensure that all volunteers and mentors have passed a background check and receive appropriate orientation, training, and ongoing support to successfully fulfill their responsibilities.
Lead the Programs
  • Supervise volunteers by providing direction, input, and feedback
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with individual students, their parents/guardians, and/or any other parental figures who might be present in their lives (this may include teachers or school administrators)
  • Maintain open awareness of outside resources for developing and enhancing the youth ministry program
Maintain the Programs
  • Communicate with church team members, the congregation, and parents in an efficient manner using all available resources (text, email, website, social media, newsletter, bulletin boards, Remind app, etc.)
  • Ensure that the program operates within the approved budget
Position details
  • This position will be 10 to 15 hours a week; however, we are hopeful that the role will increase in hours as the youth group numbers increase. The role pays $20 per hour, creating a total weekly rate of $200‑250
  • Tuition reimbursement is available!
  • Design your own hours and work hybrid environment for all prep work
  • The Youth Ministry Director will be supervised and guided spiritually by the Pastor, who will meet regularly with them for mentoring, evaluation, planning, encouragement, and prayer.
  • Funds are available to support any education that would support this work
Qualifications
  • Must embrace a Christian doctrine and RCA‑based theology
  • Bachelor’s Degree; a degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Education, or a related field is preferred
