APPOINTMENT: The Executive/Development Director is appointed by the Board of Directors.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY: The Executive/Development Director is the chief executive officer, responsible for the administration and operation of the Foundation by carrying out the Foundation’s policies and mission. The Director participates in all meetings of the Board of Directors (except executive session) but is not a voting member. The Director also recruits and manages support staff, volunteers and interns to assist in accomplishing the purposes of the Foundation.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Executive/Development Director is the ambassador of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Michigan, a small nonprofit organization. Primary responsibilities are collaborating and executing all aspects of sponsorship agreements with national and local companies. Additional duties include overseeing staff to perform a variety of services to people living with myasthenia gravis, promote awareness, and connect with caregivers and health care providers.
The position requires the ability to recruit, train and manage staff and volunteers to carry out the goals and mission of the Foundation.
Qualifications also include experience in the following: management of a nonprofit organization; fund development and financial management; working with a volunteer board; program growth; and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of organizations and individuals.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: FUND DEVELOPMENT – Corporate- create and distribute sponsorship agreements and organize and implement all signed agreement deliverables
- design, distribute and track results of an annual appeal
- organize, promote and implement all activities to host a conference and health summit, including locating a venue, speaker selection/contracts and volunteer assignments
- collaborate with staff to provide services to people living with myasthenia gravis in Michigan
- work with Board of Directors on goal setting and mission implementation
- work with staff on administrative duties and events
- Part-time, minimum 20 hours/week.
- Must be available some evenings and weekends for meetings and events.
- Must be an outstanding communicator who can represent the Foundation as spokesperson at events, meetings, with sponsors and in any situation.
- Must be highly organized, able to work with little supervision, be a self-starter.
- Degree in management, social work, non-profit or on-the-job experience desired.
Salary range: $38,000-$45,000 a year
