Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Utilize the ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
  • Perform physical exams; accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
  • Set up intravenous fluids.
  • Administer subcutaneous fluids.
  • Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
  • Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  • Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician
, you will:

  • Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Utilize your ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
  • Able to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
