Vander Hyde Mechanical, a family‑owned business located on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids, is seeking a motivated Commercial HVAC Service Apprentice!

The Commercial HVAC Apprentice helps in performing various functions encompassing the HVAC department. The purpose of the apprentice is to assist Lead HVAC personnel in completing their work activities and gaining knowledge and experience in preparation for becoming a technician.

- Assist and learn:
Provide routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of various pieces of equipment in an ever‑changing environment. - Perform required documentation for each call:
Record recommendations, repairs, take photos, prepare estimates, and complete timesheets. - Assist other personnel to support them in completing their work activities.
- Collect signatures, paperwork, and payments as directed.
- Assist and learn to communicate proper operation.
- Provide and communicate owner’s maintenance of installed equipment to customers.
- Learn to articulate back to the customer about questions of operation, features, and functions of the installed equipment.
- Develop thorough and organized working practices.
- Learn to identify issues that could prevent equipment from running properly.
Schedule
:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; occasional overtime may be required.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Possess basic hand tools.
- 1 or more years of HVAC experience is preferred.
Selected candidates will be required to complete a background check and any required pre‑employment screenings. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion.
