Position OverviewThe Manager in Training (MIT) works with the store manager and store teams in achieving sales goals, driving a customer focused environment, managing talent and performance, and executing visual standards. The MIT participates in a training program to prepare them for a store manager position within 3 – 6 months. The MIT is hired with the expectation that they are relocatable to a specific new store or a group of new and existing stores.
The MIT will complete the training program that prepares them for a Store Manager Position MIT must actively participate in all training modules and activities while also fulfilling a managerial role on the team.
- Customer Obsession: drives a customer focused store environment and delivers fashion knowledge and expertise to customers.
- Leads by example through customer service training resources and maintains awareness for the customer in actions and priorities.
- Drive Sales: manage sales goals by analyzing store performance and adjusting plans to achieve goals.
- Operational Leadership: support store manager in all store operations and ensure execution of company direction (POS, Visual, HR, Operations) and use of resources.
- Talent Management: make hiring decisions, nurture talent, develop successors, provide feedback, and coach associates to reach their potential.
- Performance and Scheduling: oversee payroll hours, prepare schedules, and direct teams to use sales driving programs and community outreach.
- Maintain an operationally sound store, minimize inventory loss, and ensure a clean and organized environment.
- High School Degree or GED required; a business or retail merchandising degree preferred.
- Supervisory experience in a customer focused environment; experience in the fashion industry preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving and setting goals and executing company direction.
- Experience in hiring, promoting, and motivating talent; ability to lead by example and make sound decisions.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; diligence and perseverance in the face of resistance.
- Must commit to a specific store location or a group of new and existing stores.
- Work varied hours/days as business dictates.
- Able to reach, push, pull, stand, squat and bend for up to 8 hours or longer as necessary.
- Able to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store; able to operate computerized register system.
- Able to move or handle merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
Manager in Training: $23.33 - $24.12 per hour.
