The City of Grand Terrace is seeking a responsible, safety-minded, and customer-service-oriented Senior Transportation Bus Driver to join our team! This position is part of our Senior Center program, providing reliable and friendly transportation services to local seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Under general supervision, operates bus to transport seniors to and from functions, events, and other services; schedules routes based on daily needs; conducts safety inspections; completes maintenance and safety records; performs related work as required.
This is a fulltime position Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. On occasion, may need to work after hours or weekends for City's Special Events.

The Bus Driver is responsible for scheduling routes based on rider needs and for picking up and returning passengers. The employee completes daily safety inspections and must operate the bus independently and prepare any required reports.

Safety regulations applicable to bus operations in the California Vehicle Code, traffic code, regulations, and local health and safety requirements; bus safety and maintenance inspection practices; effective customer service techniques; basic math; record keeping methods and techniques.
Ability to:Safely operate a passenger bus in accordance with safety standards and regulations; understand and follow instructions; plan routes to ensure appropriate pick up and return times; conduct vehicle safety inspections; explain and enforce safety requirements to passengers; complete accident, activity and incident reports; maintain a variety of records and files; operate computer equipment and use software applications; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and the general public.
High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and completion of an approved bus operator training and safety program is required. Preferred two years of experience and training in the operation of a bus weighing two or more tons is required.
Licenses, Certificates,Special Requirements
Possession of valid Class B California driver's license, passenger endorsement, acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance in compliance with the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy standards.
Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC), Form MCSA-5876 required. (See Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website fmcsa.dot.gov)
Ability to complete First Aid and Cardiopulmonary (CPR) and AED within six months of assignment to this classification. Ability to maintain appropriate medical certification required by the Department of Transportation and Department of Motor Vehicles for the operation of a public bus.
May be required to work different shifts, weekends and holidays on occasion.
