Staff Accountant

The Role

The Staff Accountant supports the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of financial information and reporting, working collaboratively within the Financial Services team and across the institution to ensure compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and internal policies.

The Staff Accountant plays a significant role in supporting audit readiness, financial accountability, and continuous improvement of financial processes.

The successful candidate demonstrates sound technical accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

• Perform core accounting functions and coordinate month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, working papers, and supporting documentation in accordance with PSAS and institutional policies.
• Maintain and support tangible capital asset accounting, reporting, and reconciliations.
• Assist with audit and year-end processes, including preparing working papers, and coordinating documentation.
• Contribute to internal and external financial reporting requirements and maintain accurate financial records.
• Identify and support improvements to financial processes, internal controls, reporting practices, and overall operational efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
