Position: Break Down Roller Operator (Road Construction)

Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is a leading road construction company providing premier services throughout Alberta. We are currently seeking a Breakdown Roller Operator to join our Grande Prairie paving crew for the upcoming road construction season.

Position Overview  As a Breakdown Roller Operator, you will play a key role in the asphalt paving process by performing the initial compaction of freshly placed asphalt. Working closely with the paving crew, you will help ensure road surfaces meet required density, smoothness, and quality standards while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This role is ideal for an experienced operator who takes pride in producing quality work, working as part of a team, and contributing to the successful completion of paving projects.
Responsibilities   Operate a breakdown roller to compact freshly placed asphalt according to specifications.
Monitor asphalt conditions and compaction requirements to achieve quality results.
Work closely with paving crew members and supervisors to maintain efficient production.
Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
Assist with additional paving and labour duties as required.
Maintain a safe, clean, and productive jobsite.
General Qualifications   Previous experience operating a breakdown roller.
Road construction and asphalt paving experience is considered an asset.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to and from work sites.
Physically able to perform the demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt exposure.
Strong commitment to safety and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Reliable attendance and willingness to work a six-day work week during peak construction season.
Pre-employment drug screening in effect.
