Responsibilities
- Provide a broad range of administrative support, serving as the first point of contact for the public and clients of the Court system.
- Receive and balance monies paid into the court and enter/retrieve data from automated systems.
- Record and process documentation while adhering to policies, procedures, and maintaining filing systems.
- Attend court to call cases and swear or affirm witnesses, interpreters, and translators.
- Perform quasi‑judicial duties as a Staff Justice of the Peace under the Justice of the Peace Act.
- Four years of related experience, with a relevant combination of education considered; exposure to a legal environment is an asset.
- Experience in a computerized environment with proficient keyboarding and data‑entry skills and the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies and procedures.
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills; experience handling cash and debit/credit card payment transactions.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public in a multifaceted, stressful, and often confrontational or sensitive environment.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and multitasking skills, with attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Sound knowledge of the justice system and government services for referral (asset).
- Bilingual with oral and written skills in English and French (required).
- Assessment of the above qualifications will be conducted via written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
- Exposure to delicate and emotionally charged issues; interaction with difficult or distraught persons may create a stressful environment.
- High demand for accuracy and attention to detail within a high‑volume, complex service area.
- Potential risk of robbery or physical/ verbal violence from individuals involved in tense family, civil, or criminal matters.
- Must remain neutral and impartial at all times.
Pay Grade: CL 21
Salary Range: $2,013.12 – $2,244.03 Bi‑Weekly
