Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Childhood Educator to join our childcare team. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of early childhood development and a commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating workplace for children aged 0–5 years. This leadership role involves guiding classroom activities, mentoring team educators, and ensuring that programs support the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of every child.
The Lead Educator will also work closely with families to build strong partnerships that support each child’s learning journey.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences that align with childcare standards and curriculum goals.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, play, creativity, and curiosity.
- Lead and support classroom educators and assistants in daily routines, classroom management, and best practices in early childhood education.
- Provide individualized support for children with diverse needs, collaborating with specialists and using early intervention strategies when needed.
- Observe and document children’s learning and development, maintaining accurate records and progress reports.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, sharing updates, developmental milestones, and strategies for supporting learning at home.
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe, clean, and organized, following all health and safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional learning to stay current with childcare regulations, pedagogy, and inclusive practices.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent certification required by provincial regulations).
- Current certification/registration with the applicable Early Childhood Educator regulatory body (e.g., Alberta Children’s Services Level
3). - Proven experience working with young children in childcare, preschool, or early learning settings, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, behavior guidance, and inclusive education strategies.
- Knowledge of curriculum planning, play‑based learning, and assessment methods.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s growth and development in a caring and professional environment.
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Pay$18.00‑$23.00 per hour
