Summary

DMC is currently looking for a Project Technician to join our team on a contract basis, based in Cadomin, Alberta. This will be a fly in/fly out (FIFO) position on a 14 days on/14 days off schedule. The Project Technician is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all technical services required for the Project. This includes a functional support role to the construction / operations team on the Project.

The Project Tech will ensure that engineering scope (drawings), specifications, bill of materials, quality control and general engineering coordination are available when required, in order to complete all aspects of the project on time, to a high quality and within budget. Survey requirements will be fulfilled by the Project Tech, including primary control management, setting out, development support and equipment management.

The scope is based upon the Project’s Work Breakdown Structures, with the Project Tech developing and executing packages on site (mechanical, structural & civil, electrical & instrumentation, mining disciplines). The Project Tech has responsibility for the coordination and oversight of off-site fabrication activities, active quality management, and construction execution support. This will include interface with the engineering team, procurement team and construction team (self-performance and contracted scope).

The Project Tech will report directly to the Site Engineering Manager and have a communication function with the project superintendents and supervisors. The Project Manager may request work scope from the Project Engineers in certain circumstances.

Responsibilities
  • Support the construction / operational team for surface and underground work. This includes oversight of the engineering design progression, overseeing survey requirements on site, ensuring the items are on site when required and that the teams are aligned with any quality control required during the construction phase.
  • Interface with mining crews and supervision to ensure all metrics are captured and are correct.
Engineering
  • Recommend design or method improvements in a continuous effort to improve safety and productivity. This is complete via engineering interface meetings and in the reviewal of drawings.
  • Maintain, at site, a complete set of standards, specifications, and drawings to ensure designs and works are completed in line with industry and Project specific standards / regulations.
Procurement
  • Work closely with the Project Manager / Project Superintendent to ensure all requirements to execute the work are available and supported in a timely manner.
Construction
  • Provide support in writing of procedures and the coordination with operational / construction team on safe and high-quality methodologies.
  • Provide support during construction / operations with technical issues and involvement of developing efficient and safe working procedures.
  • Provide support during quality and commissioning phases of the package. This includes managing quality packages and creating documents. Documentation must be completed by the required stakeholders.
  • Submit daily shift report based on data collected.
  • Collect data from shifts; interface with mining crews, supervisors, to ensure that all metrics are captured correctly and are reflective of the shift.
Survey
  • Oversee the management of stock levels.
  • Line and grade setting out.
  • Use of Leica equipment for survey (TS16) and laser scanning (BLK).
  • Place requisitions for required equipment.
