Integrated Geomatics Inc. has a permanent, full-time opportunity for an Intermediate or Senior Environmental Planner to join our growing environment team based out of Calgary, Edmonton or Grande Prairie, Alberta. In this position, the successful applicant will complete a wide variety of pre-planning and environmental services with an emphasis on planning, reporting, and permitting. The successful applicant will work in a hybrid capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret various survey and construction plans to understand Project-specific regulatory implications and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Assist clients with understanding regulatory implications, advise on strategies to maintain environmental compliance, and recommend solutions and mitigations to avoid or minimize environmental impacts.
  • Prepare, review, and submit technical reports and regulatory applications.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of key biophysical disciplines (i.e., aquatics, wetlands, and wildlife) to support technical leads and ensure that products maintain high-quality standards.
  • Facilitate the planning, coordination, and execution of various environmental tasks in collaboration with other internal divisions.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff to support skill development.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to liaise with clients, provide project updates and present recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental planning and permitting.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field.
  • Possession of a professional designation is preferred (e.g., RPF, P.Biol. or P.Ag.).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of provincial environmental policies and regulations in Alberta, such as the Public Lands Act, Master Schedule of Standards and Conditions (MSSC), Water Act, Wildlife Act, Codes of Practice, etc.
  • Familiarity and experience working with federal policies and regulations in Canada, especially those pertaining to fish and fish habitat and wildlife (Fisheries Act, Migratory Bird Convention Act/Regulations, Species at Risk Act, etc.).
  • Experience in using industry reporting and permitting technology such as One Stop, DRAS, and DDS.
  • Preference will be given to those with a strong knowledge of the MSSC and experience using the Alberta Energy Regulator’s One Stop platform.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, problem-solving, and communication.

Compensation:
Commensurate with experience.
