The Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services (PSES) is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as members of the Public Security Indigenous Advisory Committee (PSIAC) for up to a three-year term to advise the Ministry on matters pertaining to policing matters affecting Indigenous peoples within their communities.

The Committee brings together diverse Indigenous perspectives from different communities and organizations across Alberta with each member committed to engaging with the community(s) they represent on the topics discussed during committee meetings with the goal of developing a shared understanding between the diverse Indigenous communities and the Government of Alberta, and to establish ongoing dialogue about public safety and security initiatives and issues of mutual concern, related to policing.

Role Description

Members of the PSIAC will participate in on-going dialogue regarding policing matters affecting Indigenous peoples within their communities. The PSIAC members will play a critical role in determining policy and program direction and assisting the Ministry in building long-term and meaningful relationships, fostering mutual understanding, and demonstrating commitment to aligning government processes with the evolving needs of Indigenous peoples across the province.
