Job Overview:
As an Assistant Store Manager you will coach and develop your store team to deliver world‑class service to all customers and help Pet Parents find the right nutrition and other solutions for their pets. You will be part of a team of passionate Pet Experts, and enjoy the perks of helping Pet Parents every day. What you do Ensure that all customer service standards are met by staff and maintain courteous relationships within the community (e.g., Humane Society).
Manage a team of employees, including recruiting, scheduling, training, day‑to‑day task assignment, supervision and coaching.
Maintain operational standards and procedures, ensuring that all staff adhere to corporate policies.
Coordinate administrative activities: order placements, inventory management, store and safety audits, minor repairs, and corporate paperwork.
Coordinate efforts of store staff to achieve targeted business results.
Perform other duties and tasks as required.
What you bring Minimum of 2 years customer service and retail store management experience.
Enthusiasm for learning and growth in the pet care industry.
Outgoing and friendly personality with strong customer service skills.
Ability to work on a schedule that includes weekends and evenings.
Reliable means of transportation to and from the store.
Capability to observe and coach employees to improve sales techniques and customer service.
Understanding of inter‑team conflicts and ability to elevate issues when necessary.
Working knowledge of the POS system.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
Industry experience is an asset.
