The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults.
The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.

Role Responsibilities
The North Region currently has an exciting opportunity for a Court Coordinator. This role will provide Family Court services for North Region, by presenting child intervention cases in Grand Prairie docket court, ensuring accepted practices are observed and support the engagement of legal representation as needed.
As a Court Coordinator You Will
Prepare the intervention cases for presentation in Provincial Family Court by gathering the appropriate documentation and information.
Support alternative judicial resolution (JDR) processes including but not limited to mediation, formal JDR's and any other dispute resolution process.
Consult and propose strategies with Child Intervention Practitioners and Child Intervention Supervisors to assist with providing evidence and the preparation of legal documentation; present various legal positions in court to support the Director.
Represent the Ministry during Family Docket Court.
Support staff in policy, procedures, and legislation requirements for cases to be presented in court, including the provision of feedback and evaluation in relation to staff performance as it relates to court related processes.
Create and present orientation/training on an ongoing basis to regional staff and community agencies in court work, new trends and changes to legal processes.
Maintain statistics and documentation related to court actions and track emerging trends.
Create, develop, and maintain written procedures related to court practice for regional staff.
Engage legal agents for representation when needed and support the completion of documentation for legal agents.
Develop and maintain a close working relationship with provincial court clerks and lawyers involved in contested child intervention matters. The Court Coordinator serves as a liaison
between the region’s staff and Lawyers. Court Coordinator’s would be the main contact for agents.
Be required to review/monitor and evaluate work/information to ensure adherence to policy, procedures, and law and to present this information to the court/judges.
As the successful candidate, you will need to display proficiency in the preparation of court documents and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. In addition, your outstanding interpersonal skills are essential to your success in this position.
