We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Health Care Aide/Child & Youth Care Worker to join our team. In this role, you will support children and individuals with disabilities by delivering compassionate care, engaging in teaching activities, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help improve the daily lives of those you serve.
Responsibilities   Provide personalized care and support to children and individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety and well‑being at all times
Assist with daily activities such as mobility, hygiene, feeding, and medication administration as required
Develop and implement engaging teaching strategies tailored to each individual’s needs to promote learning and development
Support behavioral management plans by applying positive reinforcement techniques
Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans and progress updates
Document observations, care activities, and progress accurately in compliance with agency policies
Foster a positive environment that encourages independence, social interaction, and personal growth
Requirements    Qualifications & Education
Required Registration & Knowledge
Registered Health Care Aide (HCA) in the province of Alberta — current and in good standing
Understanding and knowledge of CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) standards, policies, and procedures
Familiarity with Alberta’s health care and disability support frameworks
Required Experience
Demonstrated experience working with children or youth with complex medical needs
Experience monitoring and supporting individuals with Type 1 Diabetes, including blood glucose monitoring and response protocols
Experience operating sleep PAP machines and other medical monitoring equipment
Experience supporting youth or individuals with physical disabilities and activities of daily living
Experience working within a family home environment
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary medical and care teams
Required Certifications & Clearances
Police Information Check (completed within the last 6 months)
Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months)
Reliable personal vehicle — must be able to commute to Sherwood Park for every scheduled shift
Willingness to complete extensive training as per CARF accreditation requirements
Required Skills
Diligent, detailed documentation and report writing skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with email and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Space, Google Docs)
Experience
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving capacity is highly preferred
Prior experience working with children or in educational settings is advantageous
Strong understanding of teaching methods suitable for children and individuals with special needs
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and team members
Ability to remain calm, patient, and proactive in dynamic situations

Registered Health Care Aide (HCA) — Alberta registration, current and in good standing
Police Information Check (completed within 6 months)
Child Intervention Record Check (completed within 6 months)
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence &reliable personal vehicle
