SUMMARY
The Molding Set-up Technician sets/pulls molds and gets molds ready for changeovers in injection molding machines for startup by process technicians for production. This position will perform color changes and line clearances and set up machine auxiliary equipment to ensure proper part containment during production runs. A successful Molding Set-up Technician will also be required to plan and perform a sequence of operations while assisting with making decisions involving the running or stopping of molds and or machines.

- Complete daily PM checklists on assigned machines.
- Set-up machines, heater boxes, cooling systems, valve gate systems and color equipment to achieve standard operating efficiency.
- Prepare molds for PD changes in injection molding machines.
- Pull and set molds as instructed using hoist.
- Set up all auxiliary equipment to ensure efficient part containment.
- Perform color changes as required.
- Perform proper line clearances at change overs.
- Perform general simple machine maintenance.
- Operate forklifts as required.
- Perform duties of various other jobs as required.
- Follow all safety regulations and LOTO guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Must be able to fill out production reports, records and operate computer.
- Must be able to use drawings similar to those appearing in most repair manuals, sketches and blueprints.
- Must follow all work rules and policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEOne year certificate from college or technical; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a high degree of knowledge about molding machines, their operation, set up, care and maintenance to be able to set up molds and related equipment in order to produce quality parts at production standards.
Must have some knowledge of various plastic materials as well as hydraulic, electrical and mechanical understanding.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 58 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
