Heavy Industrial Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift

Purpose/Scope:
Maintain, repair and install equipment using safe and effective problem‑solving techniques on an ongoing basis.

• Maintain all mechanical aspects of plant and yard equipment.
• Communicate with supervisor on parts inventories and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor and auger systems, power tools, overhead cranes, welding and fabrication (SMAW, GMAW, plasma torch, oxy/acetylene cutting).
• Basic understanding of lockout/tagout (LO/TO), hot work permit, confined space procedures.
• Able to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, bobcats, aerial lifts, cranes and yard tractors.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor electrical issues and repair.
• Ability to read and understand parts diagrams to assemble/disassemble equipment.
• Ability to work independently.
• Commitment to safety, customer satisfaction, first‑time quality and efficiency.
• Computer skills; experience using CMMS/IFS.

• Two to five years’ experience as a maintenance technician in a heavy industrial environment.
• Two‑year technical school degree.

• Plant/Yard:
  Move minimum of 50 lbs.; spatial awareness; walk, climb, bend at the waist; reach; use hand tools forcefully; vocal projection.

• Plant/Yard:
  All weather conditions (year‑round, Midwest and Northeast); dust, noise from heavy machinery; vibrations; loud noises; little to no climate control; varying light; stairs; narrow walkways.
