Our Environment Division:

Our Environment Business provides ‘source to sea’ asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland working on both Frameworks and Standalone projects. Since AMP3 we have delivered more than £2bn assets for clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water.

Purpose of the Role:

As HS&E Advisor, you will support the Framework HS&E Manager on all health, safety and environmental aspects. You will support and implement the HS&E strategy and systems to ensure that the delivery of our operations meets exemplary safety, health and environmental standards.

This role supports improvement and consistency in performance, ensuring compliance with management systems and implementing continual improvement initiatives across the framework.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Promote an inclusive, open and collaborative working environment that supports HS&E excellence
  • Support implementation of the HS&E strategy to drive improvement at project and framework level
  • Promote Galliford Try’s behavioural programme, Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviours
  • Implement the HS&E Management System in line with company processes and client requirements
  • Provide technical and specialist HS&E guidance to site and operational teams
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including clients, supply chain, and regulators
  • Provide proactive input from planning stage through to project completion
  • Monitor KPIs and performance trends and support improvement actions
  • Report regularly to project teams and escalates concerns where required
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business on all HS&E matters
Key Outputs:
  • Review project documentation including Construction Phase Plans, Emergency Response Plans and risk assessments
  • Conduct site inspections, safety walks and audits including ISO 14001 audits
  • Support onboarding and auditing of supply chain partners
  • Deliver HS&E training sessions, briefings and awareness activity
  • Lead and support investigation of incidents and non-conformances
  • Prepare monthly HS&E performance reports and present findings to management
  • Liaise with regulators where required
About You:
  • Relevant HS&E experience in construction, infrastructure, water or a regulated industry
  • Good understanding of legislation, HS&E management systems and risk control
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence others
  • Organised, analytical and confident operating in operational environments
  • IT competent across Microsoft systems
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel across regional sites
Essential:
  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or working towards)
  • Professional experience in a HS&E role
  • Confident using performance data and audit systems
Desirable:
  • IOSH or IIRSM membership (TechIOSH minimum)
  • CMIOHS or working toward chartership
  • NVQ Level 3 or above
