Summary

Reports to the Director of Informatics. Assists clinicians in navigating and using clinical information tools required in their care. Performs assessment of individual training needs of clinicians and provides computer-based training. Identifies enhancements to the system to enable optimal experience for clinicians and facilitate patient care. Maintains excellent relationships with clinicians and acts in a liaison role. Provides end‑user support, facilitates optimization requests, and performs ad hoc training.

Assists in the creation of training materials for Beacon systems. Utilizes process improvement techniques and collaborates with clinical informatics specialists and analysts. Performs testing of system applications as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize in‑depth knowledge of information systems and patient care practices; provide computer‑based training to clinicians.
  • Participate in assessment of clinicians’ needs in computer‑related education, training and equipment.
  • Communicate directly with clinicians, providing feedback on clinical system issues to ensure high‑level customer service.
  • Collect and channel data related to problems or potential problems within clinical systems to appropriate staff.
  • Serve as a resource for clinicians regarding use and workflows within clinical system applications.
  • Act as a technical facilitator during upgrades to clinical systems.
  • Identify enhancements to clinical tools that enable Beacon clinical staff to access information and facilitate patient care.
  • Assist with identification of clinicians’ issues and intervene to resolve or prevent escalation.
  • Obtain ongoing feedback on enhancements to Cerner or other applications.
  • Facilitate timely delivery of training solutions designed to meet clinical needs.
  • Assist with development of functional and process improvements that enable clinicians to provide the highest quality patient care.
  • Develop and conduct Train the Trainer programs as assigned for end‑users.
  • Respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Medical Information Officer and other staff to foster excellent working relationships.
  • Increase clinician satisfaction and loyalty by creating programs and services which meet their specific needs.
  • Act as a liaison with Information Systems (I.S.) to communicate issues and solutions between groups.
  • Assist with testing and conversion activities of physician workflow software modules.
  • Collaborate with Information Systems staff, including systems analysts, clinical informatics analysts, and leadership in development and implementation of new functionality and clinical workflows.
  • Use appropriate tools to support requested changes following departmental established guidelines for Change Management and Change Control.
  • Comply with information systems policies and protocols for customer service, change management and project management.
  • Assist with development and presentation of educational programs relating to clinical information system applications for clinicians.
  • Participate in research and implementation of new computer‑related technology that will impact clinicians.
  • Act in a troubleshooting role to help prevent problems.
  • Appropriately escalating issues when the nature of an end‑user interaction falls out of scope of the role of a Clinical Informatics Educator.
  • Advocate the development of an environment where computer systems are utilized at the appropriate and optimal level.
  • Assist with activities related to quality improvement.
  • Maintain department records, reports and files (i.e., those related to training activities) as appropriate.
  • Participate on various organizational committees as appropriate.
  • Complete other job‑related duties and special projects as directed.
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
