Base pay range: $19.27/hr - $24.09/hr

Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.000000 | Full Time | 2nd Shift - Swing. This position requires flexibility to work variable hours and days, including day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

Salary: Wages start at $19.27/hr and the midrange is $24.09/hr increases are based on years of experience in the field. Additional shift differentials apply for swing, night, and weekend hours.

• $1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• $2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
• $1.10 extra for working weekends

The Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor contributes to the overall patient experience by using organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens as specified by regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures. This is done through assessing requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high‑quality laboratory results.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required
• Prior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology

• 1 year of laboratory experience or a combination of education and or related experience in a healthcare setting providing knowledge of medical terminology is required
• Specimen processing experience including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging, preferred
• Phlebotomy experience and/or knowledge of laboratory tests and/or laboratory ordering processes, preferred
• College courses/credits toward advanced degree, especially science coursework, preferred
• Data entry, keyboarding experience and computer proficiency, preferred

• Medical Laboratory Assistant through the Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferred

• Good organizational skills that ensure accurate processing under adverse conditions
• Detail oriented and ability to multi‑task while maintaining a calm and effectual demeanor
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co‑workers and other departments
• Ability to adapt to new processes
