Four days a week,

Hours:

1:00PM
-6:00 PM; schedule may vary based on clinic needs.

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Cashier provides friendly, efficient customer service while supporting pharmacy sales and day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for processing customer transactions, assisting with customer needs, maintaining an organized and welcoming environment, and supporting the pharmacy team in providing a positive experience for patients and customers.

Essential Functions:

Receive cash, credit/debit card, and personal check payments from patients and issue receipts.

Accurately reconcile and balance the cash drawer at the end of each business day.

Maintain strict confidentiality and protect patient information while completing prescription-related transactions.

Provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming pharmacy and department, including light cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and sanitizing.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance in accordance with company policy.

Operate and maintain office and pharmacy equipment and supplies as necessary to perform job duties.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in an office and pharmacy setting within a clinical healthcare environment. The position involves frequent interaction with patients, customers, healthcare staff, and the public in a fast-paced setting. The role may include exposure to infectious diseases, cleaning products, and commonly used pharmacy and clinical supplies. Evening and occasional weekend work may be required, with regular use of computers, telephones, office equipment, and pharmacy systems.

Travel Requirements:
No regular travel is required. Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings, training, or other work-related activities as assigned.

Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, push, carry, and lift as required to perform job duties. Ability to maintain physical mobility throughout the clinic. The role also requires the ability to use computers, telephones, and other office or pharmacy equipment for extended periods. Vision and hearing must be within functional range, with corrective devices as needed.

Qualifications Required

Education and Experience

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

Experience:

Previous customer service, cashier, retail, healthcare, or pharmacy experience preferred but not required.

Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

General knowledge of Medicare and other health insurance plans preferred but not required.

Experience working with computers, data entry, telephone systems, and standard office equipment preferred.

Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of basic office processes and procedures, including computer use, word processing, data entry, and telephone systems.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and populations.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain professionalism and composure when working with customers or patients in stressful situations.

Ability to follow established procedures, policies, and instructions.
