Housekeeper

Cibola General Hospital is hiring a Housekeeper to join our team of compassionate caregivers in our 25-bed critical access hospital located one hour from Albuquerque and close to Santa Fe. Grants, NM offers a mild year‑round climate, outdoor activities, low property taxes and inexpensive housing costs.

We provide services in general surgery, 24‑hour Emergency care, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Pediatric Dentistry, Podiatry, Primary Care, and Radiology (X‑ray, CT, MRI), along with three operating rooms, clinics, lab services, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, rehab, and skilled care beds.

Job Summary and Scope

A housekeeper is responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the hospital, clinics and related areas, performing tasks such as mopping, dusting, cleaning windows, restocking patient rooms, nursing stations, lift rooms, restrooms, offices, isolation rooms, clinic areas, and any other assigned area. Heavy cleaning equipment operation, furniture moving, and proper disposal of biological waste are required. Exposures may include hazardous waste, used needles, tainted linens, or airborne transmissible diseases.

Clear communication and following written and verbal instructions are essential.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall cleaning and sanitization of hospital areas to include:
    • Dust rooms and public areas.
    • Clean windows (interior and exterior).
    • Clean and wash down restrooms, including toilets and showers.
    • Dust or wet mop as required.
    • Empty waste receptacles.
    • Spot clean walls, floors and other areas as needed.
    • Vacuum rugs and carpets.
    • Shampoo carpets, strip/wax floors as needed.
    • Clean patient rooms upon discharge.
    • Weigh, linen, sort and distribute linens.
    • May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends or holidays.
  • This is not an exhaustive list of duties and employees may be asked to assist in other areas, perform additional tasks, or work schedules outside normal times.
Position Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience.

Physical Requirements

CONSTANLTY: Walking, standing, hearing, seeing, hand‑finger dexterity.

FREQUENTLY: Stooping, bending, twisting, stretching/reaching, pushing/pulling, listing/carrying up to 40 pounds.

OCCASIONALLY: Sitting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds, exposure to blood borne pathogens, exposure to dust, exposure to fumes.
