Ace Associate - Sales and Customer Service

The primary responsibility for all positions with Soelbergs Ace Hardware is to WOW Every Customer, Every Time while upholding our Core Values.

The Ace Associate is a versatile member of the Soelbergs Ace Hardware team who helps create an exceptional experience for every customer. This position provides friendly and knowledgeable customer service throughout the store, assists customers with products and projects, operates the point-of-sale system, maintains departments, stocks merchandise, and supports daily store operations.

Ace Associates may work in different areas of the store throughout their shift based on customer needs and the needs of the business.

• Proactively greet and engage customers.

• Listen to customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.

• Help customers locate products throughout the store.

• Provide helpful product information and basic guidance when assisting customers.

• Support product lookups and special orders as assigned.

• Create a friendly, helpful, and welcoming experience for every customer.

• Maintain clean, stocked, organized, and customer-ready departments.

• Assist with freight, stocking, recovery, and merchandising as assigned.

• Keep shelves, displays, and work areas neat and organized.

• Assist with seasonal changes, promotions, and special projects.

• Help maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the store.

• Greet customers promptly and provide a friendly checkout experience.

• Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently.

• Process cash, credit/debit, and other transactions according to company procedures.

• Maintain register accuracy and transaction integrity.

• Follow all cash-handling and front-end procedures.

• Assist with returns, exchanges, and other customer transactions according to company policy.

• Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and customer-ready.

• Assist with front-end duties and customer needs as directed.

• Work cooperatively with Team Leads, Assistant Store Managers, and other associates.

• Communicate customer needs, product concerns, and operational issues to leadership.

• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

• Be willing to assist in different areas of the store as business needs change.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Previous retail, customer service, sales, or cash-handling experience is a plus.

• Hardware or home-improvement experience is helpful but not required.

• Willingness and ability to learn about products, services, and store systems.

• Friendly, helpful, and customer-focused.

• Proactive and willing to assist wherever needed.

• Calm, patient, and accurate when handling transactions and customer questions.

• Ability to perform product lookups, process transactions, and assist with orders using store technology.

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to work a combination of sales floor and cashier responsibilities as scheduled.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

• Checkout transactions are fast, accurate, and handled according to company procedures.

• Registers and front-end areas remain organized and customer-ready.

• The associate works as a dependable member of the team and willingly helps wherever needed.
