As the key technical lead for new product development and sustaining engineering projects, the Sr Project Engineer (PE) will be responsible for the overall engineering, design, and development of complete products and sub-assemblies. The Sr Project Engineer will use their technical skills and expertise to create and validate new designs and solve technical problems, ultimately meeting the performance, quality, cost, and timing requirements of product launches.

This role requires a determined and creative individual to work cross functionally across multiple disciplines with internal and external resources.

This job is located at our corporate office in Grapevine, TX and we require you to be onsite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Translate product requirements into technical specifications.
  • Develop 3D CAD design and 2D drawings for new products and improvements to current designs.
  • Competitive product analysis & benchmarking.
  • Hands‑on prototype fabrication and evaluation with metal and plastic.
  • Create designs that maintain cosmetic intent while meeting all functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality to develop FMEA’s and product test plans.
  • Ensure all products follow the patent review and clearance process.
  • Organize and facilitate technical design reviews and maintain issue/action item lists.
  • Maintain and manage the use of controlled files in a PDM software. (BOM’s, CAD, testing documentation, reports, SOPs, etc.)
  • Develop and document test procedures, execute testing following quality standards, interpret and report results.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams (Program Management, Product Management, Marketing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Sales, etc.) and participate in collaborative meetings between Suppliers and Internal teams.
  • Support Program Management and provide progress reports to management with input and updates to all project tracking documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis, identification, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Conduct research for continuous improvements through returns and consumer review analysis.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a consumer new product engineering environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong background in plastic injection molding, electromechanical product design, tooling, and a broad knowledge of appliance manufacturing processes found in high‑volume products; such as Power tools, Appliances, or Industrial equipment is required.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works or other parametric CAD software is required.
  • Hands‑on experience with fabrication and prototyping.
  • Experience running FEA and CFD simulations.
  • Understanding QC/QA testing and inspection methodologies.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronics, including schematics, circuitry, and battery technology.
  • Experience with consumer appliance compliance standards (UL, ETL, CSA, European).
  • Familiarity with DFMEA principles and experience in identifying and resolving potential failures.
  • Experience with intellectual property matters, including reading and understanding IP‑related documents.
  • Ability to conduct competitive product research, benchmarking, and cost analysis.
  • Capable of working efficiently and savvy with technology, including MS Office and PDM/PLM software
  • Self‑motivated and self‑directed with strong time management skills.
  • Experience directing overseas design/engineering teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High‑volume manufacturing experience, preferably in Asia and/or Mexico.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with ability to build relationships with cross‑functional teams and global partners.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs, and work independently with a proactive approach.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and disciplined with files and data handling.
  • Strong sense of personal accountability, responsibility, and ownership.
