Location: 2020 W Hwy 114 Grapevine, TX 76061 - Cardio Consul. Some travel to Keller and Roanoke offices.

Schedule: Full time, weekdays (Mon‑Fri, 8:00 a.m.‑5:00 p.m.).

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients; clean rooms after procedures, clean and disinfect equipment, restock supplies; assist with inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary supplies, equipment and instruments, and record as necessary.
  • Assist and accompany patients from the waiting room and prepare patients for examination.
  • Interview patients and record or input information to patients' medical record; collect all medical data to facilitate the physician's ability to draw conclusions about the patient's needs; ensure all charts and forms for the office visit are ready for the provider.
  • Measure, collect and record patient's vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height) and prepare patients for examinations and tests, procedures and x-rays.
  • Perform routine patient testing, acquire and process electrocardiograms, and collect and process blood specimens and urine samples.
  • Prepare and administer routine oral, rectal medications, injections and vaccinations (excluding controlled substances), as directed by physician; identify and report adverse reactions.
  • Remove sutures and staples and change sterile and non‑sterile dressings, as requested.
  • Perform administrative related duties such as answering telephones, taking and relaying messages, and scheduling patient appointments.
  • Facilitate or lead huddles and various team meetings; may manage process workflow and/or staff schedules, and assist in mentoring and training staff; identify issues and participate in process improvement initiatives.
Key Success Factors
  • Medical assistant certification from a program accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or the American Medical Technologists.
  • Knowledge of principles of safe and accurate medical administration.
  • Knowledge of the 5 rights: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time.
  • Ability to accurately document patient information in accordance with organizational policies, regulations and procedures; familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to make observations of the general physical condition of the patient and notify the nurse/healthcare provider of abnormalities.
  • Ability to give injections and draw blood.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent bedside manner and ability to make patients feel at ease; appears friendly, reassuring and approachable.
  • Ability to take instruction from a doctor.
  • Familiarity with medical charts and records.
  • High attention to detail.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience:

    2 years of experience; experience with manual vital signs and venipuncture
Certification / License / Registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • CMA (Certified Medical Assistant):
    Must be CMA from one of the following:
    Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT;
    Cert Med Asst (CMA) from AAMA or ARMA;
    Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA;
    Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP or AAH;
    Nat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP;
    Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from AMCA.
