Job Overview

The Multi‑Site Learning & Development Specialist is an important member of the hospital team, working in conjunction with hospital leadership to provide hands‑on training, mentorship, and long‑term development of veterinary technicians and assistants across three local Ethos DFW hospitals:

  • Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas (AEHNT) in Grapevine, TX
  • Emergency Animal Hospital of Collin County (EAHCC) in Plano, TX

This role blends direct patient care with structured training initiatives, setting a high standard for professionalism, teamwork, and clinical excellence.

The Multi‑Site Learning & Development Specialist collaborates closely with Medical Directors, Hospital Directors, Supervisors, Managers, and Doctors to identify training needs, implement effective development strategies, and foster a culture of continuous learning and growth. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting technical staff across multiple locations.

Compensation
  • $65,000-$75,000 based on experience and skill level
Anticipated Schedule
  • Full Time
    • Specific hours, location allocation, and required flexibility will be determined in coordination with hospital leadership during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities Training & Development
  • Deliver hands‑on training in Emergency and Critical Care services with demonstrated competency.
  • Develop and implement SOPs in collaboration with hospital leadership.
  • Provide real‑time education during clinical workflow and one‑on‑one coaching.
  • Monitor and document staff skill levels and progression
    , maintaining shared records to support ongoing development and performance tracking.
  • Support creation of learning labs, CE opportunities, and department‑specific training programs on a scheduled basis.
  • Retrain staff on specific skills as needed and assign training modules aligned with development goals.
  • Offer innovative solutions to training challenges and stay current with hospital initiatives.
Onboarding & Evaluation
  • Participate in observational interviews and onboarding meetings.
  • Engage with new hires to assess skills, communication, and learning styles.
  • Provide feedback for 60/90‑day reviews and contribute to annual performance evaluations.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with Education Coordinators and other Clinical Trainers across all three hospitals.
  • Attend leadership meetings, CE events, and one‑on‑one sessions with hospital leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, coworkers, and clients, adapting teaching methods to various learning styles.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold Ethos Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
Professional Development
  • Utilize CE allowance ($1,500/year) for approved training aligned with development goals.
  • Attend all required leadership and professional development training.
  • Collaborate with Ethos Nursing Leadership and Ethos hospital network to participate in seminars, virtual education sessions, and identify learning opportunities that can be shared across our national network.
Qualifications
  • Experienced Veterinary Technician with over 5 years of experience in Emergency and Critical Care settings, demonstrating progressive responsibilities and leadership expertise.
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) preferred.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience in clinical training and mentorship.
  • Ability to adapt approach and teaching style to meet needs of diverse learners.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and execute development initiatives, track progress on an individual basis across hospitals, etc.
