Shift Details: Full-time nights, 3‑12 hour shifts, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am.
Weekend Requirement: 4-weekend shifts per 6‑week scheduling period.
Experience Requirements: 2 years of nursing experience, Oncology experience preferred.
Patient PopulationPatient Population: Med/Surg Oncology, Chemo, Post‑op surgery (breast, bladder, lung, colon, and crani), Cardiac drips, Palliative Care (end of life and hospice support).
Patient RatiosPatient Ratios: 1:4 for Chemo; 1:5 for Med/Tele.
Number of BedsNumber of Beds: 20 beds.
Department Specifics- Active Unit Based Council, Pharmacist and Social Worker on the unit during the day to partner with nurses in patient care.
- Multidisciplinary Team that works together.
- Chemotherapy training is required within the first 90 days.

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, assessing patient responses, securing patient travel, understanding patient needs, and preventing issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Essential Functions OfThe Role
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes.
- Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
- Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; assess and document learning needs regularly.
- Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan; delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
- Use problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth. Contribute to peer development and demonstrate community service commitment.
- Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
- Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines; understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
- Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects.
